Chain 2 Grain provides expert tree surgery, saw-milling, gardening and landscaping services.
Based in Huddersfield, covering West Yorkshire and the surrounding areas.
We offer forestry products, including live edge slabs, lintels and beams, sawn timber, woodchip, mulch, foliage, sawdust, logs and more available for delivery. We aim to raise awareness of correct tree and environmental management, the importance of sustainability and ecology.
Where possible, we primarily use electric tools, such as trimmers, strimmer, blowers and of course chainsaws. We use eco-friendly bio oil so as not to pollute waterways or other environments with our saws, and where petrol would be used (but batteries can’t), we run Aspen 2; an alkylate fuel which releases 100 times less benzine emissions than regular fuels, this is better for the health of our operators and for the health of the planet.

We pride ourselves on a zero waste policy, every part of a tree has its use and we aim to make sure it stays that way.
Where possible, suitable trees will be extracted and sawn into beams or slabs that will bring a new life to the wood and sequester the carbon that the tree has previously collected over its lifetime and not re-release it back into our atmosphere. Smaller logs which aren’t worth the time and resources to send to the saw mill, are ideal for splitting, drying and heating up homes.
These logs will be naturally air dried and sold locally to source, to mitigate foreign imports and lower the carbon footprint. Small branches with no leaf will be turned to wood chips that can be used for flower beds, pathways, gardens and more. Branches in leaf will be turned into mulch which makes an excellent compost, providing nutrients back into the ground.
We support other local arboricultural businesses and have a strong growing network of trusted contractors, that are able to support us on larger scale projects.
